At first I was a little skeptical of Britney Spears making a big comeback with her first single “Hold it Against Me”. However, it was more than enough to get my attention and raise a wondering eyebrow. Even more so, considering the fact that Lady GaGa has been dominating the charts with hit after hit, and Britney’s long time rival (Christina Aguilera) has ended up with her career in a tailspin trajectory. Things are looking up, pretty amazingly, for Britney’s Comeback with the release of her second single “Till The World Ends” off from her new album “Femme Fatale”. This chart climber is simply marvelous, crafty and catchy. A lot of creativity and hard work went into the production of this song and music video.
In my opinion this track kicks ass over her whole entire 2008 Circus Album. Which is just what her life amounted to at the time, one big circus. Hopefully, she has cleansed herself of all the toxic people and stuff that was going on in her life. I’m crossing my fingers 100% hoping that this really is indeed the start of what looks like an amazing comeback for her. I really love the smooth and growling oscillating synthesizer sounds and arrangement of the song. This single is also geared towards the Eurodance audience and other markets abroad. Lady GaGa has managed to tap into these markets reaching a wider audience even. Till the Word Ends has already made it to #1 on the Russian Love Radio Big Love 20 chart as of May 07, 2011 (the date I’m writing this)
On the Billboard Hot 100 chart
”Till the World Ends” has moved up from #11 to the #3 position on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. This truly is an amazing turn around for Britney and her career. I’m betting it’s going to knock Katty Perry’s E.T. down a notch or two from #1 before it’s all said and done. I’m cheering for an underdog, even more so since Britney appears to have made an unexpected comeback.
Let the Femme Fatale Show Down Begin
It seems like so many artist are now scrambling to rise up to the bar that was set by Lady GaGa, in terms of both music and video production. Many of the music videos coming out now are completely blowing away the likes of anything to seen the SyFy channel with sleek high-tech futuristic themes. Katy Perry’s E.T. Video featuring Kanye West obviously was meant to take on Lady GaGa’s over the top “Born This Way” video. The special effects and 3D rendering in “Till the World Ends” is no exception to the leading edge of music video production, yet it at the same time does not carry a heavy outer space theme. Over all, this song and video connects with people on a personal level. She performed this song on ABC’s “Good Morning America” TV show and the audience was loving every moment of it. If you missed it, you can watch it online at the ABC news website.
This song connects with people
Overall I believe “Till The World Ends” simply will connect with far more people around the world, people all faced with an uncertain future of what 2012 and beyond holds, with it’s message of keep on dancing (living) until the world ends (whenever that is). Britney sticking her head out a man hole cover in the street (at the end of the video) and taking a look around is a dead on the money. Sure enough the sun is shinning in the background and everything else is still there, this is a priceless message of hope. Society as a whole will be looking around like that after Dec 21, 2012.
This is perfect timing for an inspiration song like this to come along (Thank You Britney!). In the mean time, I’m waiting for it to take #1 on the Billboard charts and many others.
The World
I have to make a comment, that I’ve noticed a growing trend in current music production. That instead of there being a limited focus upon beat-to-death American markets (such as Hip-Hop) that it’s targeted to a much broader world wide audience. I really enjoy seeing this, since there’s a whole world full of people of different races, backgrounds and cultures. Hopefully, this trend catches on more and more and continues to grow. I’m crossing my fingers that there’s not (another) Kayne West tirade over Britney at the next MTV video/music awards.
I’m looking forward to listening to the rest of the songs off Britney’s new album. I’m crossing my fingers that they are just as amazing. She’s posted a number of tour dates on her website.
